Check me out in my new clobber
Here's Aston wearing his first ever pair of jeans, generously bought for him by his english grandparents. (And the cool top as well)
And since his hair is now getting a little longer and with the hint of a curl, we've hand to replace the hairbrush Mae bought him which we lost somewhere between Dubai and Sydney. He loves chewing on the bristles.....
I can climb
Right into the draw ... hilarious.
Unfortunatley he doesn't just stay in the safe draw full of bibs and tea towels as this is not enough of a challenge. He then uses his elevated position to try and get into draws three and two. Full of the not so safe things like knives and forks and serving utensils.
We've now put kiddy locks on the three bottom draws and he's seriously cranky that he can no longer get in, he tries at least 7 times a day.
Feeding myself
Aston is gaining so much confidence with this feeding himself thing. He constantly grabs the spoon from us such is his desire to use it himself. He very cleverly knows which end has the tasty stuff to put in his mouth, but unfortunately turns the spoon upside down just before it goes in. So most food still ends up all over the bib. He also wants the bowl, and I mean he WANTS the bowl, now that he's worked out that those spades for hands can also cleverly pick food up to eat.
So confident is he, that he's also taken to pursuing the contents of the fridge before a meal to determine for himself what he'd like for lunch or dinner as per below.
Unfortunately for Barry, like mother like son, his choice of beverage is not going to impress.

What else is new in Aston's life
Aston's now very good at pulling himself up on the furniture and walking while holding onto a sofa or wall. He has been taught how to wave by his English Grandparents, and can do the twinkle twinkle little star hand movements if you sing the song to him, also taught by his English Grandparents.
He is eating more and more solid foods with much less of the gaging thank god, and I give him toast fingers with Vegemite or Avocado, slices of pear and apple, grated cheese, soft pasta and vegetables.
And surprise of all surprises, he's also starting to eat some of my home cooked concoctions. He is furiously facinated whenever someone else is eating something and MUST have some immediately and through this he has also tried white fish, hommus, rice crackers, mushy broadbeans and about a million other things I can't think of right now. What it does mean is that I can no longer eat Crisps when he's around because he desperately wants some too and I'm hoping not to introduce him to junk food for several more years yet.
A trip to Bondi
We've had Rob's parents in town for the past two weeks so apologies for the tardy updates on the blog, but we did finally manage to get down to Bondi while there were here. It was a lovely lunch at Iceburgs and icey cold outside as well.
When Aston's standing up straight his belly doesn't look quite so hmmm 'Budda - ish' and belive it or not, the porker has actually started to slim down with all his constant activity
Here he is waiting for the bus with his dad.

Opps!
Not Aston's fault but I got my routine a bit out of order tonight, when I undressed him for the bath BEFORE getting his bottle ready. Anyone to witness Aston's bedtime routine knows that as soon as he is dried and clothed after the bath, that bottle MUST be ready to go. So I thought, even though it's a tad cold, I'll pop him on the floor naked and quickly make the bottle.
That was all fine until I saw a funny little look come over his very cute face. I thought, oh no, I hope that's not a poo coming.
It wasn't but ..........
It was a wee instead. Hilarious!
Who's there?
Aston is so friggin cute, every time I talk on the phone he wants some of the action, so I give him the receiver after I've finished and say "Who's there? Oh it's for you"
Well he's learnt how to do it himself now and whenever I give him the phone to play with, this is what he does!
Who's there? Oh it's for me!
He's also started to enjoy having his father talk to him on the phone and gets the most excited little look on his face when I put the receiver to his ear. It's like, really I'm sure that's my dad talking but WHERE IS HE?
