New York, Hawaii and Australia

Yahoo - after a terribly long break we now have the internet again. So regular Baby Dales updates it is.

New York was friggin freezing and for Aston a bit of a non event really. He was wonderful on the flight out to New York, over it by the time we landed and had an enormous meltdown in the taxi sitting in bumper to bumper traffic going into Manhattan. Once in New York his little time clock was all skew-if and there was no way we were going to be able to correct it in a matter of four days - more like four weeks would have been required. So we lived with it. Which meant he went down at around 3pm for his long sleep and was up yahoo'ing about the place at 3am when we would take him to the hotel foyer as the paper thin walls were not so favourable for other hotel guests. As a result we got to know the nightstaff from Trinidad and Tobago very well.

Being a desert baby he also didn't enjoy the cold weather and each time we had to put another layer of clothing on him, he screamed just that little bit louder, so you can imagine by the time we got to the hat and mitten's it was all over. We did get out and see the major tourist attractions and Rob and I kicked the ground every time we walked passed an excellent looking bar, club or restaurant .... in all I think we will need to go back to really enjoy the spoils of the city - probably when he's 21 and no longer living at home.

Hawaii was a little different, the time zones worked a bit more in our favour, we had a great hotel room in Waikiki with our balcony looking over the outdoor bar so when he went to sleep around 7pm at night, Rob and I could sit on the balcony and pretend we were in the bar....

The wedding was beautiful and it was a VERY relaxing week on the North Shore before flying into Sydney, where surprisingly the timezones also worked in our favour and the adjustment hasn't been too bad. The only bugger is that Aston picked up a couple of extra feeds during the travel (mainly in the middle of the night) which he has been carrying on with now he's back in normal routine ... I'm trying to make them as unappealing as possible so not worth waking up for. We'll see how that goes!
